Laila Ali Biography

Celebrity sports personality, Laila Ali is a retired American professional boxer and the daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Laila was inspired to box after watching a women's bout on a Mike Tyson undercard. Her ring nickname is She Bee Stingin', a takeoff on her father Muhammad Ali's famous phrase, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."

Laila hosted the revival of American Gladiators alongside Hulk Hogan, Ali and the cast also appeared on the NBC show 'Celebrity Family Feud'. Ali also appeared in an episode of 'Yo Gabba Gabba' and on 'love that girl, fighting shape' as well as an appearance on 'The George Lopez Show'. Later Laila joined the CBS team as a contributing correspondent on 'The Early Show' and was a participant in the fourth season of the ABC television show 'Dancing with the Stars'. Although she had no previous dancing experience, she and her professional dancing partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, came in third place in the competition.

Laila has been nominated multiple times for BET's Female Athlete of the Year award and won in 2002. Owner of a beauty salon and Gym, where she also worked as a personal trainer, she found the time to write her autobiography, 'Reach! Finding Strength, Spirit, and Personal Power'.
