Celebrity dancer, Derek Hough is an American dancer, choreographer, musician and actor best known for ABC's 'Dancing with the Star's'. Derek is a world champion in Latin American Dance, and has earned three Creative Arts Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Choreography for his work on "Dancing with the Star's".
Derek's theater work includes starring as Ren in the original cast production of 'Footloose: The Musical', 'West End', which earned him a nomination as "The Stuart Phillips London Newcomer of the Year" in the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice Awards, the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar and dancing in the company of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. Derek made his Broadway debut with Kym Johnson and Mary Murphy in 'Burn the Floor' and is a founding member of the Ballas Hough Band , where Derek shares lead vocals, plays guitar and has several songwriting credits on the band's self-titled debut CD.
On 'Dancing with the Star's' Derek made his first appearance as a guest instructor with Julianne and Apolo Anton Ohno. He then joined the cast of professional dancers and has been paired with actress Jennie Garth, actress Shannon Elizabeth, model/TV host Brooke Burke, rapper Lil' Kim,model Joanna Krupa, Pussycat dolls Nicole Scherzinger, actress Jennifer Grey.
